Bring on the Bacon.

Since 2005, the number of menu items of all types that include bacon is up 26.5% at all quick- and full-service restaurants.

The number of bacon-topped burgers at all 580 restaurants in Mintel’s Menu Insights database soared from 424 in 2005 to 576 in 2009, a 35.8% increase.

“Everything is better with bacon” may have begun as a silly saying, but today this concept is making its mark on menus. By featuring on-trend ingredients like bacon, operators can create premium meals that satisfy customers and earn more profit.

Quick-service restaurants have upped bacon burgers by 32.9% in the last four years1 and bacon recently ranked #2 amongst the top ten proteins added to burgers2. Not only do such popular ingredients add flavor to burgers, they also add value. Bacon, as well as specialty sauces like A.1. Thick & Hearty, justify higher burger prices because they enhance a burger’s appeal. In fact, 63% of customers say they would pay more for a burger simply because it is made with A.1.
