Proposed 28th Amendment to the United States Constitution:
“Congress shall make no law that applies to the citizens of the United States that does not apply equally to the Senators and/or Representatives; and, Congress shall make no law that applies to the Senators and/or Representatives that does not apply equally to the citizens of the United States “.

In McDonald’s strong global February sales results announced this morning, performance in Asia stands out. Note from their news release that Chinese New Year is highlighted as a reason why.

“In Asia/Pacific, Middle East and Africa (APMEA), comparable sales rose 10.5% for February, led by strong results in Japan, China and Australia. The celebration of Chinese New Year in many markets contributed to the month’s performance. Throughout APMEA, consumers continued to respond favorably to the region’s compelling value offerings, great tasting premium menu selections and relevant convenience.”

In 2009, Chinese New Year, which is based on a lunar calendar and changes each year, began in January. Many McDonald’s restaurants in Asia serve special menus during the Chinese New Year celebrations, including such items as a black pepper and beef Prosperity Burger, and for dessert, the McDonald’s version of traditional red bean pie or red bean sundaes.
